Welcome to the First State Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators’ website.

Here you will find a host of information which includes upcoming events (educational and social), helpful member and business partner information, and more!

The Association of Legal Administrators (“ALA”) is an international organization with over 10,000 members representing law firms and corporate legal departments world-wide. The ALA was founded in 1971 to promote and enhance the competence and professionalism of Legal Administrators and all members of the management team. If you’d like to learn more on the parent organization, please visit:

The First State Chapter was established in 1979 and actively supports the mission of the ALA. One of the great benefits of chapter membership is the availability to attend local monthly educational programs which focus on topics specific to the legal industry and/or to enhance skills necessary to manage successful law firms. Additional valuable benefits offered throughout the year to chapter membership include networking opportunities, such as business partner events, leadership events, scholarships to conferences, holiday and summer socials, as well as community outreach projects.

While the First State Chapter of ALA is small, we are mighty! Thanks, largely in part, to the relationships we have built, and continue to build, with our loyal Business Partners. Through Business Partner connections, our membership has access to the finest services needed for operating a successful law firm, and our Business Partners gain exposure to the finest legal administrative staff! Sponsorship packages are available to Business Partners who are looking to build business relationships with the added bonus of enjoying our calendar of social-networking and community events throughout the year! Please be sure to revisit the Business Partner section of this website often, as we continue to grow throughout the year. All of our Business Partners offer a wide range of services and we are grateful for their support.

If you are considering the “why” for joining our chapter, please contact one of our Board or Committee members with any questions you may have, and/or if you would like to attend one of our monthly meetings to catch a sneak peek. Speaking on behalf of the Executive Board, we will warmly welcome you to the First State Chapter and look forward to sharing our valuable resources, and are equally excited to learn from you as well. Our members, past and present, will agree that joining the First State Chapter of ALA has been a tremendous asset in the personal and professional growth for each of them.

The long-time success of the First State Chapter is a testament to the members who have had so much to offer, and willingly shared it. As for yours truly, upon feeling welcomed into this chapter several years ago, I was encouraged to delicately dip my toes in the proverbial waters, only to find that I became comfortable enough to jump in with both feet! To our current members, and to our future members, it is my hope that you too will dip your toes in ... the water feels great!!

Fondly ~

On Tuesday, March 27th, the First State Chapter ALA joined by their Business Partners enjoyed networking at a social held at Ernst & Scott Taproom.  While socializing, members and business partners competed at the basketball machine to win gift cards from StarBucks as well as for the top scorer to win the machine at the end of the evening!  Rich Kenney from Tech Solutions won the machine and planned to donate it to the youth group at his church.  It was a great way to celebrate March Madness together!
